Born on November 20, 1948, John Bolton is an American diplomat and attorney who is currently the National Security Advisor of the United States and began his tenure as National Security Advisor on April 9, 2018. As a Republican, he served as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations from August 2006 to December 2006 as a recess appointee by President George W. Bush. He has been called a “war hawk” and is an advocate for regime change in Iran and North Korea and has repeatedly called for the termination of the Iran deal.
